Nestled directly on the Camino in the charming town of Sarria, Pension Escalinata is a true gem for any traveler, especially those of us with a penchant for exploring historic pathways. My two-night stay in a spacious family room promised not just comfort, but also a lovely view that added to the experience. Though the shower was a bit too high-tech for its own good, it managed to wash away the dust of the trail – and really, what more can you ask for after a day of walking? The owners surpassed all expectations with their warm hospitality, patiently fielding our endless questions about the Camino and local hotspots. Breakfast was a delight, featuring a scrumptious omelette that fueled us for a day of adventure, and I particularly loved the on-site bar, where we enjoyed refreshing drinks after a long trek. With free WiFi and a convenient tour desk located right in the hotel, Pension Escalinata makes navigating this beautiful region effortless. I'll certainly be back – for the comfortable beds and the oh-so-convenient location near the old town, if nothing else!
